Rev. John Doroski - Philippine Pioneering Experiences

40 Day Condition to Make Unity

On the 41st day I arrived in the Philippines to help with the original nation God called me to take responsibility for and restore my failure to unite with His original calling, as Job did after his purification course. I made my way to the Unification center’s address and was

taken back to find my wife living alone, very sick with no food in the center and facing an additional danger to her physical life. It seems she had been made the official national leader, but problems existed. I immediately bought food, medicine and when she recovered, we cleaned up the center, painted the entire inside and had bright matching curtains made for the entire house; this is after I received official approval for my working there with HF, TF and my beloved, Nanette. We then began a 40 day condition to study and make “official”  Divine Principle Lecture Charts to be used in teaching all the members who would be joining us to build HF’s Kingdom.

This 40 day condition turned out to be quite an experience with the two of us “restoring” the division between the original missionaries who went from Korea to America, since Nanette and I had joined

on two different coasts of America, under two different Korean Missionaries and under two different ways of teaching the DP.We argued each chart, line by line of what was to be included, very intensely, until we produced a core education system (see …… to download the 3rd level of these great, grassroots teaching charts) that was to birth a great Philippine Unification Movement.

Nanette and Myself Team Witnessing

The first witnessing Nanette and I did was to visit many of her already established contacts. We visited Christopher DeLeon “the movie actor Brad Pitt of the Philippines” who Nanette had already began teaching lectures to, met many news reporters at a press club, but mainly focused on meeting, joining and teaching DP to martial art masters and some club members; towards this end we became members of  the Yo-Yan Club in downtown Manila.

For two months, each week we spent many days standing on wooden boards on wooden slippery floors for 15 minutes or more to expand our splits; “a very painful indemnity condition” to earn the opportunity to teach the Philippine’s Master of the Masters. . This club was the most serious martial club I have come across in many nations of the world; most members could do totally vertical split kicks, multiple flipping travel across the floors and in full-contact tournaments dispose of their opponents within one minute. Master Hernandez would do tournament demos with cotton in his eyes, then a black cloth across his face and then a black hood over all. Within a couple of minutes he would have 4 or 5 attacking opponents armed with dual arnis sticks, laying on the floor bloody and himself untouched. He studied the first half of the lectures from us,They were very prepared with his entire club
expecting the second coming of Christ and he brought many masters and nearly a hundred members of various clubs to our first official large scale gathering at the Cubao Center on the eve of Christmas 1978; each of the various masters presented their clubs unique styles. I stopped training at his club after I experience my first full contact blows to my face and we started getting too many guests to hear lectures in the early months of 1979 for me to spare the time.

Visit of 36 Couple Elder

In the month of October, 1978, Mr. San Ik Choi, a 36 couple, the 1st pioneer of Japan and San Francisco visited the Philippines as an IW and made recommendations to True Father of the mission situation in the Philippines. Based on his recommendations I and Nanette were appointed as the national leaders of the Philippines.
